We have two different vehicle rental options. We offer 4x4 car rental vehicles with and without camping equipment. Our camping vehicles are equipped with all the gear you will need for your complete camping experience. You will only require your own towels and clothes. At Bushbundu Car Rental in Windhoek, Namibia, we also offer a variety of additional options and extras for our camping and non-camping equipped vehicles.

Our camping vehicles are standard equipped with the following: canopy, 50l water tank, additional 80l fuel tank, second battery system, two spare wheels, tyre compressor and gauge, spade, axe, fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. One or two rooftop tents (or ground tents on request), mattress, bedding, table, chairs, kitchen box and 40l fridge are also included. All 4x4 vehicles at Bushbundu are equipped with 12 Volt and USB connections. Optional equipment is available should there be an additional person travelling with you. Packing space is very limited with all camping vehicles, therefore we recommend packing small, soft bags for your adventure.

Our non-camping vehicles are standard equipped with the following: canopy, 50l water tank, additional 80l fuel tank, second battery system, two spare wheels, tyre compressor and guage, spade, axe, fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. All our vehicles are equipped with 12 Volt and USB connections. Optional equipment is available.

We offer a variety of options to all camping and non-camping clients. We carry a full list of items such as extra tents, sleeping and kitchen items to facilitate additional persons booked. All our vehicles are equipped with standard fittings which will allow usage of equipment such as optional fridges, GPS, baby seats etc. See all of our options and extras available.

Namibia has an area of 824 000km² whereas 90% of the roads are unpaved. Therefore, you might be covering big distances by road between lodges and camping spots. Plan adequate time for travels between stops as the gravel roads vary in condition throughout the seasons. Plan your trip in the rainy season carefully as most rivers are dry, but can change into flash floods within minutes. 

Fuelling stations are sometimes few and far apart. Remote areas such as the Kaokoland and Bushmanland don't always carry enough fuel supplies. Most stations accept all major credit cards, although cash backup is advisable. 

All national and international driver's licenses are accepted. An international license is however required by law in Namibia. You might be asked to provide a license at roadblocks and border crossings. A national driver's license in a foreign language should be accompanied by an english translation. 

The minimum age for driving our vehicles is 23 years. Upon enquiry, we may reduce such age at an additional young driver surcharge after consideration of such request by management. Please contact us for any enquiries.

Tarred roads in Namibia are limited to 120km/h with occasional slower sections. Cities are normally limited to 60km/h.

Bushbundu Car Rental restricts all vehicles to 80km/h on all gravel roads, unless road sections require a slower speed. It is strongly recommended to stay within these limits as the insurance will not cover any accident above these limits. All vehicles are equipped with tracking devices and monitored in the event of overspeed or misuse.

We offer advice and guidance on the proper use of our four-wheel drive vehicles, which will make it a breeze to transverse most roads in Namibia. However, we do not recommend transversing rugged terrain if you are unfamiliar with off-road driving.

Most camp spots in Namibia are well equipped. Occasionally you will have to cater for your own water, firewood etc. Please enquire with your host which utilities are available. There are very few places in Namibia where you may wild camp. It is highly recommended not to camp in riverbeds during rainy seasons as flash floods are a common occurrence. 

Absolutely not. We offer a full demonstration at collection on the proper use of the vehicle and all the camping equipment provided. Whether you choose a rooftop tent or a ground tent, both can be set up within a few minutes with the help of another person. All our camping equipment has been selected for easy use of operation.

Dune driving is strictly prohibited. The insurance will not cover any damage caused while driving in the dunes. Bushbundu Car Rental in Windhoek, Namibia reserves the right to charge for all damages caused by such activity. 

Reckless off-road driving is not covered by the insurance policy, and Bushbundu Car Rental in Windhoek, Namibia reserves all rights to charge for any damages caused. Take considerate measures while driving in National Parks and strictly stay on the roads and tracks. Deep water crossings and salt-water driving is prohibited. Contact our 24hr support number as soon as possible. We will assist you as quickly as possible with the nearest services in your area. We will also assist you with a new vehicle should you wish to continue your journey, subject to vehicle availability.

We will telephonically evaluate the extent of the technical problem or breakdown, which will determine if the vehicle can be repaired on site, or has to be towed to the nearest workshop, or if the vehicle requires replacement.

Support in certain parts of Namibia such as the Kaokoland and Bushmanland may require more time due to difficult terrain and remote areas. 

Yes, all our vehicles are covered by a standard third-party insurance. Additional comprehensive insurance cover is mandatory, and you can choose from one of our excess structures. The degree of excess payable will determine an additional fee charged per day. The excess amount will be reserved on your credit card upon collection of your vehicle. The excess amount will be reserved on your credit card once the rental agreement is signed. In the event of damage caused to the vehicle the amount equal to the repair of the vehicle will be deducted from the excess amount. Should the damage be higher than the excess the full excess amount will be deducted. Once the vehicle is returned and no damage is reported the reserved amount on your credit card will be lifted again. Please see our complete list of insurance options.

Our rates are in Namibian Dollars. We accept all Visa, Mastercards, EFT transfers or cash. We accept Namibian dollars, Euros and US dollars. We charge a 3% handling fee on all cash transactions.

Yes, all reservations and bookings for our car hire in Namibia require a valid credit card, i.e., your credit card must be valid for at least six months. No vehicles will be released without a valid credit card registered in the renter's name. Should the vehicle be in an accident where negligence of the driver was the cause of such an accident, Bushbundu Car Rental reserves the right to charge the credit card with the full amount of repair or replacement of such vehicle.

Notify our office as soon as possible. If you booked a transfer with us, we will notify our driver of your delayed arrival. We will also assist with alternative transport arrangements if required. 

Your 4x4 rental vehicle will be handed over to you at our vehicle depot in Windhoek. We offer a complimentary shuttle service to all our clients from the Windhoek Hosea Kutako International Airport to our depot and back. Please make sure you book with us well in advance if you require a transfer. We will also need your flight number so that we can track your arrival or should there be a delay.

The last bus will leave from our office to the airport at 15h00, please make sure that you return your vehicle well before, should you wish to make use of this service.

Our vehicles may cross the Namibian borders into neighbouring countries limited to South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This must be arranged with written management approval at least 28 days in advance due to border clearance certificates that have to be obtained for the vehicle. A cross border permit fee will be charged to the client's account. This does not include your border crossing fees or road taxes.

You will receive your 4x4 hire in Windhoek with a full tank of fuel. You may either return the vehicle with a full tank or we can refuel the vehicle for you and will add the fuel amount and a 5% refuelling admin fee to your final bill.
